FAQ

Why do Live Activities only show automatically for countdowns under 8 hours?

Live Activities on iOS are designed for timely, glanceable updates rather than permanent countdowns. A Live Activity can be active for up to eight hours before iOS automatically ends it and removes it from the Dynamic Island.

Because of that system limit, Timely only displays a countdown Live Activity during its final eight hours. That keeps the Live Activity focused on the window where iOS can keep it alive for the full remaining countdown.

Timely Plus is built to start those countdown Live Activities automatically when a countdown enters its final eight hours, so you do not have to remember to start one manually.

Do travel time estimates update with real-time traffic?

When you create an event in Timely or add a destination to a countdown, Timely estimates the travel time available at that moment and saves that value with the event.

That saved travel time does not automatically recalculate as the event gets closer. If traffic conditions change later, Timely will not update the estimate in the background or adjust it based on real-time traffic near your departure time.

For the freshest route and traffic information, open directions again before you leave.

Upgrading Timely Plus with more robust travel time prediction data, and using Timely Plus to monitor real-time conditions so it can proactively alert you, is on my list of possible future features. If you would like to see that added, tell me you want Timely Plus travel alerts. Feedback like this helps me decide what to prioritize next.

Why does Timely say "Purchase option is currently unavailable"?

Timely Plus and paid Shortcuts actions are not available in every App Store region yet. Right now this includes Europe and mainland China. If you see "Purchase option is currently unavailable," it usually means the paid feature is not currently offered in the region used by your Apple Account.

I would love to bring Timely Plus and paid features to Europe, including EU and UK users, in the future. For now, I have had to keep paid features unavailable across Europe. The GDPR compliance work and related cost are more than I can accommodate right now as a first-time indie developer.

If you would genuinely like to subscribe when Timely Plus becomes available in your region, tell me you want Timely Plus in your region. Real interest from users helps me decide what to prioritize next.
